Brighton Handsewn specialises in making beautifully finished roman blinds. The lining is hand sewn to the fabric and no stitches are visible on the front. The lining has machine sewn pockets that contain fibreglass dowels for structure and the bottom of the blind is weighted with a baton.
Brigthon Handsewn offers a range of linings; cotton sateen, thermal, blackout, and also interlining.
The blinds are hung on an industry standard child safe blind system. The blind is attached with velcro to a white metal headrail operated by a side-winding chain, which can be positioned on the left or right.
How to measure for roman blinds
Roman blinds can either hang inside the window recess or outside. For inside the recess, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom and choose the smallest measurement. Again measure the height in three places and choose the smallest measurement for length.
For outside the recess, decide how far you want the fabric to overlap each side of the window. We recommend between 5cm-10cm on each side. For the top, the blind can sit 10cm-15cm above to ensure when pulled up the blind does not block too much window light. For the bottom, the blind can either hang 5cm-10cm below or to the sill.
Also decide which side of the window you would like the blind cord to hang. Please contact Brighton Handsewn for advice on the amount of fabric required and the best fabrics for roman blinds.
